Reds To Cut Underground Activities Declared By Hoover

FBI Director J Edgar Hoover told a House Appropriations subcommittee that the American Communist Party plans to reduce underground operations this year and emerge into more open activity amid the Geneva conference and rising understanding of communism. He cited a four to six month crusade funded to defeat anti communist laws and noted hard core members numbered about 20 28 thousand, concentrated mainly in New York and Pennsylvania with most in urban industrial areas.

New Market Welcomes Doctor Ralph Michaels and Family

The Town Council and Lions Club welcome Dr Ralph Michaels 39 and his nurse wife moving from Morristown New Jersey to New Market. They will establish home and practice in the Purdum home center joining a long community effort to provide medical care. Dr Michaels, a Germany native educated there, has been in the United States since 1951 and completed medical training in 1948.
