Breakup Of Families From Elderly Migration To The West
The last decade saw 130000 elderly persons move to California 66400 to Florida and thousands to New Mexico Arizona and other mild states. Investigators say this shift breaks up third generation families and loosens two generation ties. Old folks lose joy in helping raise grandchildren and fear fallback on children. Young folks lose access to parental advice and aid. The trend is stronger in metropolitan centers than in smaller communities where life is slower and duty is stronger.

Cold War favors Moscow over atomic war says David Lawrence
Washington columnist David Lawrence argues Soviet aims center on the cold war to avoid direct conflict and gain influence, with infiltration of free countries and access to strategic materials. He contends the U S stance is weakened by internal leftist pressure and missteps on Red China, while Indo China and Korea remain flashpoints shaping the conflict. He notes Soviet leverage grows as Western unity frays and trade moves toward the Iron Curtain.
