It claims internal remedies are harmful, promises prevention of breast pain and morning sickness, and cites a Tampa hotel owner's wife having easier childbirth. The ad invites readers to buy for $1 and request a free book.
Samuel G. Warricks of Glassboro was arrested in the New Jersey Assembly chamber in Trenton and taken to Camden to face charges of threatening the lives of Camden Prosecutor Lloyd and Sheriff Sell. He resisted arrest, fought officers, and was dragged through the state house corridors as handcuffs were finally applied.
Newport News Virginia March 20 James Poindetter a negro stevedore burned to death in his home as eight frame buildings in the negro section burned. Police Judge John Douglass Gordon Brown bravely entered the burning building to save Poindetter but the flames trapped him. he collapsed in the street with serious leg injuries.
In Vidalia Louisiana John Woodard the negro murderer of white planter Leonard Calvin was hanged by a mob within 300 yards of the parish jail. The mob gained entry by claiming they had a prisoner from Catahoula parish. a jailer was overpowered and Woodard was taken to a tree and executed despite pleas for life. In Washington the president is said to consider ex Senator Wolcott of Denver as a possible successor to Secretary Hitchcock.
Washington reports the senate received both the majority and minority canal committee findings on transferring Panama Canal Company property to the United States for 40.6 million dollars. The majority brands the New Panama Company as tied to French defrauders, while the minority led by Senator Kittredge upholds the company’s title and transfer rights with Colombia’s consent deemed sufficient.
In Elizabeth City North Carolina March 20 crowds heard three lawyers argue the Wilcox case. Defense contends the doctors testimony is not positive and the evidence is circumstantial. State Solicitor Ward urged conviction as the jury nears.
Robert Johnston aged 70s, one of America's oldest actors, died at the State Soldiers' Home hospital in Bath. He claimed to have performed with Junius Brutus Booth, Forrest, McCready and other notable actors. He served as a captain in the Twenty fourth New York Volunteers during the Civil War.
General Otis tells Senate Philippine committee Aguinaldo sought to drive Spaniards out then attack Americans. He calls the insurgent army largely robbers, saying they aimed to awe northern Luzon and perhaps seize the Philippines. He notes Aguinaldo as capable yet duplicitous, and questions ties to assassinations.
