Leon Michael Dague, 22, a serviceman, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempting to kill a Biggs Avenue homeowner during a burglary last summer. The case details describe the attempted homicide and the residence invasion leading to the judgment.

Montgomery County Council approved a high-density plan for Montgomery Village near the Gaithersburg airpark runway. The 364 acre northern village area will add about 2,022 dwelling units and could reach a total capacity of 35,000 with 3,378 more units to be built over 10 to 12 years. Critics warned about noise, safety, and transportation impacts, while supporters cited a need for moderate priced housing. Council members Hanna Scull Gelman Gudis voted yes. Crenca Foster opposed.
