Unprepared To Treat Atomic Radiation
Washington March 18 A Civil Defense official told senators doctors in the United States are not prepared to treat victims of atomic radiation. Ralph E. Spear testified that if an atomic or hydrogen bomb hit an American city the medical profession cannot be assured to treat radiation injury. He noted no medical seminars had been held and cited delays in obtaining Bikini test data from the AEC. The issue was complicated by fallout information held under secret clearance.

Complaining Witnesses Are Missing At Trial
Magistrate Wilbur F. Sheffield Jr faced a string of cases in New London hearings. Lester Dorsey and George W. Stone Sr were released on their own recognizances as the March 28 date was set for continued hearings. Shirleyan Ravensburg could not be found and the hearing was postponed again. Stone’s wife’s absence stalled her complaint of assault, sparking a heated remark from the magistrate. Charles W. Dorsey was acquitted of disorderly conduct after lacking corroborating testimony. Several traffic penalties were levied for speeding and alcohol impairment. A separate note reported Russia protesting a French ratification, with Molotov delivering a note to the French ambassador regarding the Paris treaties and German rearmament.
