Lake Linganore residents consider funding major repairs
Lake Linganore lot owners may be asked to create a contingency fund to cover major water and sewer system repairs in the 64 home development. Officials from the state health department and other agencies met to discuss a possible county or state takeover of the utilities, rate control, and a draft contract to protect homeowners and the county. The meeting followed a push by county commissioners to reopen talks with Phoenix Utilities as the moratorium on new growth remains in force due to capacity limits.

House committee OKs waste site proposal
A House Interior Committee approved a bill directing the president to pick a permanent nuclear waste site by March 30, 1987 and to ban sites in densely populated areas. The plan would require both houses to approve overrides of state rejections, fund much of the construction costs from the nuclear power industry, and allow initial site use by 1988. The bill mirrors a Senate proposal and follows other fiscal policy debates and public notices.
