Health Department Seeks Boost In County Funds
Frederick County Commissioners were urged to add 466 469 to a 843 520 fiscal 1972 Health Department budget, a rise of more than 230 000 from current funding. Dr. Charles Spickwall said state cuts force 73 500 less from the state, risking program eliminations including home health dental heart and hearing, mental health and maternity clinics. To maintain current programs and staff, the county must raise its share by 138 000 to reach 709 871. the proposed 843 520 would expand services, add about 14 positions, and provide 5 percent across the board raises plus replacing 12 cars. The department would see increases in 18 of 19 units, maternal and child health excepted. Citizens must fund services or lose them.
