Life story of 81 year old farmer William A Brown

William A Brown born 1841 near Middletown Valley recalls a world before tractors when farming relied on hand labor. He later traveled with a circus, then married Eleanora Kuhn in 1867 and raised four grandchildren. He earned 37.5 cents daily sowing wheat, and remembers a levy of 12.5 cents per day handling horses. He has seen much change, dislikes movies, and warns against modern fashion. He remains active on a five acre truck farm, with good hearing but fading sight.
