New York report describes Kerbie Gremen and another man rescuing Andrew Mitchell and his wife from a fierce first street fire. Fireman Mooney lowered Mrs. Mitchell from a third floor window and swung her to safety, while a second rescuer assisted.
New York March 18 After a brutal street car struggle on Ninth avenue Alexandar Devoy murderer and escaped convict was subdued with a revolver and captured by Detective Mugg. Devoy had drawn his weapon and aimed at Mugg but the detective seized his hand and disarmed him. Devoy escaped Bing Sing prison after two years of a life sentence for killing Lefty Boyle. He met Detective Jackson at headquarters and said he planned to flee but stayed, claiming Boyle had a famous family and expressing vengeful intent.
