Understanding Sciatica and Restless Legs in Health Columns

Dr Edwin P Jordan explains sciatica as pain along the sciatic nerve with many possible causes such as diabetes vitamin deficiency or infections elsewhere in the body. When a cause is found and treated relief often follows but not always. He notes pressure on the nerve from spine or surrounding tissues can trigger pain and discusses treatments including surgery for nucleus pulposus herniation and injections or physical therapy for pain relief. The column also mentions restless legs syndrome with symptoms of leg weakness and cold feet and notes massage is ineffective. Additionally a note highlights a leadership training school conducted at Union Bridge Church of the Brethren from February 20 to March 6.
