Narrow Escape for John H. Ropp in Farm Engine Accident
John H. Ropp of near High Knob narrowly escaped death when a portable engine wheel crushed his right arm and bruised his shoulder while being moved near Middletown. He slipped from the friction bar, his arm caught, and he was pulled toward the wheel before managing to avert a direct hit. He received treatment from Dr. E. L. Beckley after seeking relief at the Shafer farm.
