Parking Meter Hearing Held in Emmitsburg Town
About twenty five townspeople attended the meeting at Firemen's Hall with Mayor and commissioners to discuss a proposed meter program. A petition from 45 merchants opposing meters was presented but later withdrawn. Officials indicated meters could raise funds to cover police and maintenance costs, with about 152 meters planned for Main Street and the square and active 8 am to 6 pm. Some curb and sewer issues were also discussed along with planned open sewer improvements after bond retirement around 1952.
