All American Patronage Up To Expectation At Frederick

Frederick air service by All American Airways shows outgoing mail higher than incoming during the first full week, with 17 passengers and 17 incoming air express parcels. About 162 pounds of inbound air mail contrasted with 35 pounds received locally. the DC-3 operations began March 7 at Frederick municipal airport on the Pittsburgh Baltimore Washington route. Local officials say public education and interest at the airport will boost business, aided by managers Ralph LeComte and William Willard, with airport supervisor Charles N Grimes on site.

D A R Officers Club Elects New President in Baltimore

Mrs Loyal R Alden of Pikesville was elected president of the officers club of the Maryland State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Carroll successors, Miss Raid Belt of Chevy Chase as vice president and other officers named. About 50 attended the dinner meeting as the latter club, comprising former state society officers, opened a convention here tomorrow.

Furloughs Announced Amid Coal Mine Shutdowns

The notice says 2,000 of 3,800 employees would be idle later this week. National unemployment rose with hard coal miners and railroad workers among about 3,742,000 jobless from all causes. Government data showed 3,200,000 jobless before the shutdowns as coal production nearly halted and rationing plans were announced.

Ashton Ready For Washington Trial

Ashton Lyman Ramsdell of Youngstown face federal charges for the West Virginia train robbery near Martinsburg. Ashton requested a Washington trial at arraignment before Judge Richmond Keech while Ramsdell was shot by police and hospitalized after capture.

Federal plea option discussed for Ashton case

The report notes Ashton may plead guilty under federal rule. Washington and West Virginia authorities could approve such a plea.
