Circuit Court workers plan walkout in Rockville
More than 135 Sixth Judicial Circuit Court employees in Rockville plan a two day walkout Monday and Tuesday to protest state salaries. Clerk Howard M. Smith says management will assume offices, with Smith handling the switchboard. Workers cite salaries around 11 000 annually and high living costs in Montgomery County. They note 104 turnovers since January 1984 and say a 2 1 2 percent cost of living raise would barely cover a day's child care cost. Internal auditor Dave Rippeon backs the action to pressure better pay and classifications.
