Oppose Suit To Condemn Land For Lewistown School

Takoma Park couple Mr and Mrs Paul Henderson contest a Board of Education condemnation in Circuit Court seeking about eight acres behind Lewistown school for a building addition, playgrounds and sewerage. They propose using a 60 foot railroad right of way instead, claim only easement needed if condemnation occurs, and press just compensation based on current farm value and potential subdivision value, noting drainage and safety impacts on Fishing Creek and remaining land. They argue the school is obsolete and that full fee simple title is unnecessary, predicting future land requisition if condemned.
