Itinerant Jailed For Theft At Speed-Dee Restaurant
An itinerant sign painter, Frederick Rex Putman, 23, was jailed on grand larceny charges after stealing 108 to 166 dollars from the Speed-Dee Restaurant on West Patrick Street. He attempted to flee by cab to Baltimore but was stopped near U.S. 40 east and Marriottville Road by state police and Frederick city officers within hours. Police recovered the entire amount and found an unloaded revolver in his possession. Putman, not a local, had been staying above the restaurant and faces trial pending further investigation.
