Frederick County plans a large 250th anniversary festival
Organizers outline a year long plan for Frederick County's 250th anniversary featuring more than 30 events from January to December 1998. Highlights include a Confederate Air Force air show weekend August 21 to 23 with a moon glow, balloon races, and a Noah’s Ark balloon. A Lafayette Ball on April 25 at the Holiday Inn will mix period and modern dress with historic dances and toasts. Other events cover reenactments of 1861 politics, the Stamp Act era, a grand exposition May 30-31, a time capsule unearthing June 14, a Civil War reenactment July 18-19, a large parade September 7, and planned interfaith and educational activities throughout the year.
