Subsidy battle persists for Carroll County school bus contractors
Carroll County bus contractors, unpaid by the state under a disputed funding formula, pressed officials to boost county subsidies. At a Wednesday session Governor Hughes and county commissioners were pressed to resolve rising fuel costs and the state’s pay formula. Irene B. Johnson, president of the county contractors association, argued the formula undervalues buses and favors other counties. Commissioner Mann offered to arrange a meeting with the governor to push for a solution, urging presenters to come armed with facts.
