Kentucky Is Picked To Win NIT By Bradley Coach

New York March 12 Bradford University’s Coach Forrest Anderson sees Kentucky as the “team to beat” in the 13th National Invitation Basketball Tournament while CCNY could be the dark horse after watching opening-round games at Madison Square Garden. Kentucky, top seed, faces Syracuse in the quarterfinals as Duquesne meets LaSalle and Kentucky targets CCNY in later rounds. Syracuse, Western Kentucky, La Salle and CCNY advanced, with CCNY upsetting defending champion San Francisco and Ed Warner scoring 56 for San Francisco’s downfall. Bradley’s scout praised CCNY’s speed and shooting, but Anderson still bets on Kentucky to win the tourney. The NCAA bids also take shape with UCLA clinching the eighth district spot and Kansas earning a Big Seven playoff berth. Eastern rounds set for Madison Square Garden March 23, 25. Western in Kansas City March 24, 25, finals March 28.
