Roosevelt's Salary Limit Order Beaten in House Vote
A powerful House coalition backed a protest against executive usurpation and voted 268 to 129 to repeal Roosevelt wartime salary caps, removing the 25 000 after taxes ceiling and allowing salaries up to the national debt limit. The measure, drafted by Democrat Disney, was opposed by Cooper and others who argued it endangered the debt bill.
