Mack Lacks Depth but Hopes A's Can Rise in 1942
Anaheim dispatch notes Connie Mack remains cautiously optimistic about the 1942 Athletics. Nine players have left for Navy service, depleting the roster including Benny McCoy, Al Brancato, and Sam Chapman. Acquisition of Mike Kreevich may help, with outfield speed and power led by Johnson and Miles. The infield shows gaps at second and short, while rookie Louis Blair and promising pitchers Christopher and Caliguiri offer hope for a stronger season.
