Treasury clarifies savings bonds interest and sales changes
The Treasury notes all savings bonds continue to earn interest through 1960 and beyond. Series E bonds issued since 1941 will stop selling after June 30, but existing bonds keep earning interest for decades with rates around 6.5 percent, rising to 7 percent over future periods. EE and HH bonds offered later replace E bonds, with HH sold via banks or the Treasury and 6.5 percent interest if held to one year.
