Theft Reported From West Seventh Street Residence
Thefts occurred Friday night at 217 West Seventh Street while the owners attended a funeral home viewing. Thieves broke a back door pane, took several thousand dollars in cash and valuables, and left over $2,000 hidden in an unusual place. Edward L. Young and Mrs Young owned the residence. Alvey V. Tankersleys Buy More Sellman Acreage Near Sellman Farm
The Garin V Tankersleys signed a contract to purchase 311 acres of the C Ed gar Kills farm near Sellman in Montgomery County. The acquisition lifts Mrs Tankersley s holdings to about 2 800 acres making her a leading landowner. Alis Tankersley former publisher of the Washington Times Herald said the deal was sealed last week. The purchase adds a dairy operation with a bank barn and will expand her dairy interests and cattle holdings including 40 registered animals. She plans to convert the Ga in barn to an animal hospital run by a new full time veterinarian. The report notes she owns Santa Gertrudis cattle developed by King Ranch in Texas through cross breeding Brahmin Indian cattle and shorthorns. In a separate note the General Assembly Friday enacted a bill by Senator Hoff Carroll county requiring equal party division among Carroll County Board of Education members.

Buckeystown brick plant of Hudson Supply and Equipment Co. burned Friday evening, destroying the machine shop main plant and storage shed. Firemen aided by Beallsville and Frederick units battled the flames from 5:40 p m until about 7 30 p m. Losses included brick making machinery diesel bulldozer and two trucks. cause undetermined. Plant had just resumed operations after winter closure and would take a long time to replace.
