Fire destroys 200-year-old Poolesville home housing a family of nine
A late night fire near Poolesville in Montgomery county completely destroyed a 200 year old stone residence on Dry Seneca Creek. Leonard Allnutt his wife and seven others escaped in nightclothes as embers fell on beds. Firefighters led by Captain Charles H. Davis arrived after 11 o clock to find flames blowing from windows and the roof collapsing. The family sought shelter at their son’s nearby farm and insurance papers were lost with the house. Cause undetermined but suspected chimney origin aided by a tin roof. Outbuildings survived due to wind direction.

Minor Damage To Two Cars In Accident Here
Two cars sustained minor damage in a collision on East Patrick street at Wisner yesterday around 6:45 pm. A 1488 Dodge driven by Taewis William Baker failed to signal while turning from Patrick onto Wisner and hit a 1939 Ford driven by George Frederck Heffner. Heffner’s car struck a pole after Heffner passed on the right. Baker and Heffner were cited by Officer Denver Shook for signaling and right side passing respectively.
