Mass. March 11 Percy Dame trusted bookkeeper of Merchants National Bank confessed to embezzling 7620 and left town. His friends have since repaid the shortage affecting 36 accounts dating back up to 12 years. Dame will not be prosecuted. Also, General Hastings broke his leg in Bermuda and President McKinley visited him in hospital. Hastings once commanded the Twenty third Ohio and now resides in Bermuda.
In Pittsburg on March 11 workers at the Keystone Rolling Mill and Standard Manufacturing in Allegheny were notified of wage cuts ranging from 19 to 20 percent. About 200 workers are affected across the two plants. Pennsylvania Tube Works also announced a 16 percent cut for its 1000 hands. Officials say there will be no strikes.
A railroad coal operators and miners conference will be held in Pittsburg next Wednesday to agree on a uniform wage scale. If it fails, a convention of miners may be called to consider striking at the opening of the Spring Lake trade.

Two starboard boats were torn free, injuring two crewmen, and a crewman sustained chest injuries from flying tackle. Rev. H. C. ExSenator Joseph N Dolph died in Portland after his leg was amputated to fight blood poisoning. Born 1835 in Wat kins New York he moved to Oregon in 1862 and served as U.S. district attorney and two terms in the Senate. He practiced law in Portland after leaving public office.
Judge Addi son Brown of the United States district court dismissed the writ of habeas corpus and certiorari brought by Lawyer Coudert for Joseph A. Insigi Turkish consul general at Boston. He was arrested in New York on embezzlement charges exceeding 100,000. The ruling rejects the claim that state authorities lack jurisdiction over a foreign government representative.
Nine Yale juniors who sent a letter and a Yale flag to Pugilist Corbett urging his victory over Fitzsimmons appeared before Dean H. P. Wright yesterday. The Yale News harshly repudiated the sentiments and demanded a public apology. The writers say they retract phrases that presumed to speak for the university.
