Dr Howard Wesley Ash, a Frederck resident and ophthalmologist, died Friday March 10 at Vindobona Nursing Home at age 90. He was born February 13 1905 in Sharon Pennsylvania, son of Elmer Ellsworth Ash and Irene Gardner Ash, and husband of Ruth Hamilton Ash. He attended Sharon High School Grove City College and earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in Philadelphia. He later completed two years as a resident.

Judges extend driver's sentence in fatal drunken driving case
A three judge Frederick County panel lengthened the sentence of Timothy W. Turley to 13 years for a crash on Old Annapolis Road that killed Kimberly Comfort and seriously injured her 18 month old son.
