Frostburg Men Given Long Terms
Two Frostburg area men were sentenced in Circuit Court after pleading guilty to raping an 18 year old Lonaconing girl near Dan's Rock on a mountain road last May. Glenn Morgan 2 and Leo Drews 2 received long terms. Morgan also drew a two year suspended sentence on a separate carnal knowledge charge involving a 14 year old girl. Judge Sehoanffer noted the severity and potential for harsher penalties, while Judge Anderson cited mitigating factors for Drews. The victim testified she fought for her life as she and Morgan and Drews drove to Midland and onto a lonely road before the assaults. The case was moved from Allegany County for venue reasons.

Shoe Firm President and Woman Cut In Fight
Washington reports a downtown shoe firm president and a female bookkeeper were injured in a fight at the woman's apartment around 12 30 am. George Richard Nelligan and Yvette Louise Sage faced assault with a dangerous weapon charges after Nelligan was stabbed and Miss Sage received four stitches for a chin wound. Both posted $1000 bonds and await a hearing.

Couple Injured in Orange Va Car Crash Return From Vacation
A Braddock Heights couple, Mr. and Mrs. Roland W. Harbaugh, returning from a Bahamas Florida vacation, were in a rear end collision near Orange Virginia. Their late model Cadillac suffered extensive front and rear damage while two other vehicles were lightly damaged. No charges were filed. They were taken to Orange for the night by state troopers and later returned home with assistance from a local dealership.

Eight Fatals Over Weekend
Eight people died in Maryland over the weekend, five in traffic. In Baltimore two steelworkers, John Burke and Ver Porter, aged 40 and 30, drowned after their car plunged from a bridge into Bear Creek. Robert A. Youth Who Escaped Is Given Term
Charles J. Dodson a 16 year old from sear Thurston was sentenced by Chief Judge Patrice Sehounifer to not more than three years in the State Reformator. A one year term suspended on another charge runs concurrently. Deputy Sheriff Raymond Haugh testified as main witness. Dodson escaped from the sheriff’s office while being taken to jail and was recaptured in Front Royal Virginia. He had been under a suspended sentence on vandalism and malicious destruction charges tied to the Optimist Club parking lot. In Juvenile Court a bench warrant was issued for parents of 12 children who failed to appear for a hearing. A 1 year old girl and a 13 year old bar were placed under court care with the Children’s Aid Society for foster placement.
