In Magistrates court Roger Kenneth McThinia 18 of Route 1 Adamstown freed on 26.45 dollars after testimony of him and his brother about a parked position and a rear collision with another car at West South and Jefferson. Ernest Shankle the other driver said the McThinia car had its lights on and turned when hit. Magistrate Wilbur F. Sheffield noted Maryland law and found no question the pulling out was wrong. Robert Luther Reed Jr. pleaded guilty to assault and battery on his English wife Clare Reed and faced a two year sentence, with remarks about Maryland courts not tolerating wife beating. Intoxication cases and fines in local court actions
In a string of cases, William Henry Gerrett, 41, of Jenkins Camp, was fined 100 dollars and jailed 60 days after a railroad spike incident. William E Chaney, 60, and Garland Forrest, 61, faced fines and jail terms for intoxication, both with prior records. Forfeitures included Donald Lee Beeman for speeding on a crest and Delmar Beall for intoxication. Two women Payton and Laby, both charged with disorderly conduct or intoxication, forfeited 25.80 each for failure to appear. Tivona Muse Jr. had his paternity case postponed pending further ness.
