Army and Navy dead among 152 aboard transport Barney Kirschbaum
The Department of the Army announced the return of 152 sets of remains from World War II. Among them are twelve service members from this area including Capt. Cline of Monrovia, killed in Germany on September 20, 1944, and awarded the Silver Star. Navy Pfc. Harry F. Fraley of Thurmont and other locally listed names are noted with next of kin. Crews of the transport were previously buried in temporary cemeteries in France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, and England.
