Frederick County positions for more trails and bike paths

Frederick County plans to expand walking and cycling routes with a countywide trail network. The initiative, led by County Planner Jim Gugel and Alderman William Hall, aims to tie Ballenger Creek Rock Creek and Carroll Creek paths into a loop linking Baker Park and downtown. Funding will rely on state matching and developer contributions, with projects like the Ballenger Creek Trail under study and proposals to extend the Monocacy Water Trailway. Local residents note safety and connectivity improvements while officials stress long timelines and competitive funding.
