Baker Park plans win initial HDC nod for wall and berm
The Frederick City Historic District Commission preliminarily approved Baker Park plans to build a berm and a concrete wall along Carroll Parkway and Bentz Street to contain creek overflow. Project engineer John W. Van Slyke says the measures flood proof the creek banks from Bentz to Highland streets. The berm runs east about 300 feet starting near College Avenue, with the retaining wall extending to Bentz Street and along Bentz for about 100 feet northward.

TJ student charged with gun violation at high school
A 15 year old Gov. Thomas Johnson High School student was arrested Thursday for carrying a loaded .25 caliber handgun to school. He was charged with carrying a handgun on school property and handgun violations and released to his mother. He told a teacher he had the weapon to protect himself. He could be expelled under the school handbook.

Police forced Thomas Keefer a 30 year old firefighter from his Freder ick townhouse after a two hour standoff. Tear gas was used to end the siege as Keefer came out seeking assurances he would not be jailed. No one was hurt and weapons were found but unloaded. Keefer had been detained earlier for shoplifting at Giant Food.

Police charge two men in MC school vandalism
ROCKVILLE A Richard Montgomery High School student and a former student face charges after arson and vandalism at the school on February 24 causing about 250000 dollars in damage.
