Telephone Bets Are Not Evidence In Baltimore Case

Judge Herman M. Moser ruled that telephone bets placed by policemen cannot be used as evidence in the soc off bookmaking charges against Elizabeth Brans and McCrackan. Attorneys moved to suppress evidence from a February 2 raid on a house under a search warrant. The warrant tied to a phone call tip, but prior Maryland Court of Appeals rulings require identification of the call recipient for warrant sufficiency.
