Finland's Withdrawal Could Help Allies in War
A Finnish exit from the war would boost Allied position by freeing 70,000 to 100,000 Russian troops to join the fight against Germany in Poland and the Baltic states. It could force Hitler to divert forces, curb lend lease threats to Murmansk, end the Leningrad threat, and deprive Germany of Finland’s nickel and copper. It would also expose northern Nazi garrisons and weaken Hitler's prestige after Italy's surrender.
