Bolivar Parent Injured In Car Accident Near Burdane
Bolivar resident Bolivar is hospitalized with serious head injuries after a car went out of control returning from Martinsburg near Burdane about a week ago. The car was demolished. Local visitors included Mrs. Joseph Thompson and Peggy from Arlington Virginia at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robinson. Trooper Harold Basore and family from Braddock Heights spent Sunday with Mrs Basore’s parents in Harpers Ferry. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O’Brien of Silver Spring visited with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bowens. Betty Littleton of Bolivar returned home with them after three weeks away. Harry Maleoat and wife of Hyattsville spent Saturday with John Heafer and Oliver Heafer. House guests at Rev. Charles Walie’s over the weekend were Maus G Coulter of Norfolk Massachusetts and Vin Batley of Tacoma Park with Mr and Mrs Join McNew of Old Orchard. Mie HT McDonald visiting two weeks with daughter in Alexandria. Wairs Dass Marks of Washington DC spending a week with brothers Richard and John Heafer in Bolivar. Laiard, two year old son of Mr. and Mrs Ralph Bush is ill and a parent in Charles Town General Hospital. Hard water residue in tea kettle can be removed by alternating rinses of vinegar and warm water.

Fire damages Wenzel home on West Fifth Street
Neighbors alerted a chimney fire at 235 West Fifth Street in a two and a half story brick residence. A faulty address misdirected initial calls before firefighters from Junior pumper and Citizens aerial ladder companies attacked flames reaching the roof attic wall and second floor closet. Downstairs furniture was protected with tarps as smoke and water damage spread to adjacent homes.
