County Recovers From Storm Loss
Frederick county endured the worst blizzard and sleet storm of the season with widespread damage. Telegraph and telephone service collapsed across the county with about 3 000 lines out and 100 poles blown, while some lines between towns were severed. Roads remained blocked by fallen trees and poles as crews worked to restore service and reopen routes statewide.

Committee to Quit After Two Weeks in Baltimore
The Maryland Fuel Distribution Committee will end activities within two weeks as the need wanes. Chairman William Milnes Meloy cited supply from the Pennsylvania Colliery as keeping the committee running briefly to aid shipments. A William Conwar report notes Baltimore will receive about 50,000 tons more anthracite coal than its winter allotment through April 1.
