Adequate Playing Strength For Teams
Giladelphia March. FA Connie Mack president of the Athletics and Herb Pennock Phillies general manager agree baseball will open the season with adequate playing strength despite player reluctance and manpower losses to the armed services. They believe clubs may field 20 players if needed and that baseball should flourish through the season. Pennock sees a chance for young players to break in as most clubs will lose 3-A players. An official note says government sport bans would be required to stop baseball. Arthur H. Ehlers Interstate League president says the same business-like approach applies to the league.
