Bank Robbery Ends in Shootout and Capture
A two-robber robbery erupted at a county bank as they stormed the desk and seized cash. One robber was killed by a shotgun blast, the other captured after a dramatic chase that ended with a barn siege and a crowd firing on the escaping gunman. The surviving suspect, 19-year-old Charles W. Crawford of Madison county, confessed, naming O. P. Wilkins as the dead robber. The heist yielded about 800 dollars.
