Fire Threat to New House Near Green Valley Inn
Two independent hose companies and firefighters fought a fire that started when Kenneth Custer 6 was burning trash behind the Green Valley Inn and spread to honeysuckle and dry weeds, threatening a newly constructed house along US 240 south of the city. Firefighters used booster lines and Indian pumps to prevent further spread. A second blaze at the Glenn Stunkle farm near Forest Grove burned about three acres of woodland down from brush burning by railroad workers along the B&O railroad right of way.
