An advertisement touts Salvation O1 as a superior liniment with more honesty and virtue than others. A Philadelphia reader, Mrs. A Fiedler, attests it eases rheumatism joints and bruises and urges keeping it at home. The message warns against substitutes and promotes Sett ing Servation oil at 25 cents.
Washington March 5 crowds filled the night as fireworks lit the city for the inaugural ball. President McKinley and Mrs. McKinley appeared. lavish decorations and electric lights transformed the pension building into a fairyland. The ball drew fashion leaders from New York and Washington society, with diplomats, army and navy officers in grand attire. dancing began late as crowds watched the display and the city glowed with illuminated public buildings and monuments.
A Boston subway explosion on Fremont and Boylston streets killed six and injured a score or more, with extensive property damage and several electric cars destroyed. Officials suspect a leaky gas main ignition and will conduct an inquiry to determine the cause.

Three men Benjamin Richards Richard Luke and Thomas Jewett were killed in an explosion at the Candy mine in Quinnesec Michigan. The blast occurred while workers were at supper as an electric battery discharged the dynamite from the surface. Jewett was unarmed. The incident marks a tragic accident in a routine blasting routine.
March 5. Hon. John D. Long, new secretary of the navy, left his home yesterday for Washington taking his young daughter Miss Helen Long. He expects to return about April 1 and then prepare to move his family to Washington.
Mrs Amelia Francisco, arrested Wednesday for the death of Mrs May Noble after a criminal operation at Francisco's Newar home, confessed her guilt last night. The case follows Noble's death Sunday night from the procedure.
The queen regent granted Abelardo Campanioni a pardon in response to a family petition backed by Havana ladies. Campanioni, an insurgent leader, was condemned as a prisoner of war and faces release on royal mercy amid public appeals.

The Frederick Business Men's Association met at City Registers office last night and elected a framed ticket for 1807. Officers include President Joseph D. Biker, Vice Presidents A. C. M. Cardell and Geo. Kostock, Secretary Lewis A. Rice, Corresponding Secretary F. B. Sappington, and Treasurer G. B. Zimmerman. The president was authorized to name four committees to solicit funds to defray the expenses of the Garmin Bay Met meeting. other matters of interest to Frederick business men were transacted.
