A Maryland business gathering reviewed zoning plans and arranged several events including a Jefferson Ian Jackson dinner and a Spring Kutcheon meeting to be held at Peter Pan on May 14. Refreshments were served by the hostess.
The February 24 meeting at Community Hall featured Edaar Enrich Emmitsburg explaining how federal marketing orders stabilize milk prices by class payments to farmers. Mrs Edna Buhrman gave a humorous talk, and William Ifer closed with organ music as 4H clubs were guests planned for March 10.
Frederick Bird Club reports a new foray series with a noon start, counting species and census data sent to federal wildlife experts. Twenty six species observed on a cloudy day near Henderson steel mill site, including owls, mergansers, vultures, and woodpeckers, with supper by lantern light at Potomac Virginia Park. The next spring foray will be announced by club president Mrsarel White.
Al Roth's bold five clubs bid after two no trump shows strength in aces and kings with long suits. Harkavy raises to six clubs, which is easy to make after a heart lead and correct spade play. The article also notes Saturne, France's Saclay Synchrotron, ranking high in Europe.
City Engineer W R Walter approved building projects in Frederick during February totaling 71030. Projects include a 20000 Y Hut addition at Hood College and three new homes by Hamilton Homes for 26000, Brosius Homes Corp 8600 at 305 Loganberry Court and 820 at 417 Logan Street. Additional February work lists interior remodels, porches, and minor renovations across several local addresses. Fort Gordon report notes Army Pvt Robert E L Unger completed an eight week lineman course February 20.
