Five On Floor During Debate on Senate Quorum
In Washington on March 4 Senator McCarthy clashed with Democratic leaders claiming only five senators were present for the Middle East debate. Johnson demanded a quorum call to bring all senators to the floor, saying the situation reflected poorly on the Senate. The dispute arose during Sen Malone's opposition to the resolution as McCarthy criticized the low attendance and warned the issue could involve American troops abroad.
