Frederick County Schools Rank Sixteenth in State Spending Per Student
Frederick County spent 3655 dollars per pupil in 1986-87, ranking sixteenth in Maryland among 24 districts. The report notes wide gaps, with Montgomery at 5643 and Carroll at 3396. Special education funding appears low at 202 per pupil, partly due to budget accounting gaps and pending inclusion of the Frederick County Developmental Center costs. Dr. Noel Farmer calls for better funding and details a 14.8 percent increase proposal for next year’s special education budget.
