Lewis Hopes To Unify Labor But Rules Sell Out As Head

He aims to form a third force joining AFofL and CIO affiliates, with invitees including the CIO and independent railway and mine groups. Beck signals a backchannel push for Meany and Reuther to welcome Lewis, who would lead a unified United States labor movement from a fresh leadership slate.
