Huge Home Building Program After War
Chicago March 3 Curt C Mack director of underwriting of the Federal Housing Administration predicted about 350000 to 400000 houses would be built the first year after the war with total cost near 2000000000 dollars. He spoke at the Mortgage Bakers Association conference noting most new homes would be in middle and upper middle price brackets while long term demand would center on low cost houses. H O Walther vice president of Bell Savings and Loan Association added that old home demand may lag as new construction rises and FHA 90 percent financing encourages building over buying old homes.
