Southern States sales rise in first half of fiscal year
Southern States Cooperative reports a 46.9 million dollar gain in sales for the first six months of the 1900-41 fiscal year, reaching 313.7 million. Net savings before taxes totaled 1.671 million, down from last year due to petroleum costs and higher expenses. Grain and seed volumes shifted amid drought, while fertilizer, farm supply, and energy trends shaped profits. Regional meetings across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and Kentucky discuss future agricultural finance, energy policy, and cooperative principles with leaders including Pat Murray, Richard Price, H.K. Swann, and M.T. Ragsdale.
