Frederick Firemen Complete Eight Week Tactics Course
About fifty firefighters from Independent Hose Company United Fire Company Citizens Truck Company of Frederick Lewis tow n Fire Company and New Midway Fire Company completed an eight week training program at Independent Fire Hall The course covered preparation alarm response arrival size up command procedures rescue and firefighting culminating in a table top exercise using scale city models and wind temperature and time scenarios to test hose lines ventilation and roof versus through the roof decisions The program directed by Oscar Baker Donald Flinn and Gene Carlson Univ of Maryland notes its seven year history and plans for ongoing statewide training The Frederick group will take a final exam March 13 with Middletown to begin same tactics course March 1
