Discharge of 17 Upheld in Victor Products Case
A National Labor Relations Board examiner upheld the discharge of 17 Victor Products Corp. workers in Hagerstown Maryland after a series of picket line incidents. Trial Examiner Ralph Winkler found they engaged in unprotected strike activity by threatening company officials during a strike on April 10, 1950. The case, tied to the CIO United Auto Workers, was sent back by the U.S. Circuit Court to determine participation in picket line coercion, with the examiner leaning that 17 of the 18 named workers did so and thus lost protection under the Labor Law. The names include Harold Aycoth Howard Bitner Leo Bober Ray Holland Chester Jones James Kline Thomas Kunkleman George Kyne and others.
