Will Be the First Woman in Lords as Rhondda Wins Seat
London March 3 Lady Rhondda won the Privileges Committee ruling to sit in the House of Lords becoming the first woman in the upper chamber in modern times. The daughter of Viscount Rhondda, wartime food controller, she leads twenty three peeresses in their own right. A businesswoman, she manages coal steel ships and factories and has held various civic roles. The decision follows the sex disqualification removal act and broad support from legal authorities.
