Constant Yield governs Maryland property tax rates
Maryland uses the Constant Yield Rate Provision to keep property tax revenue stable year to year. By Feb 15 the Department certifies the rate needed to match prior year revenue, while local jurisdictions may adjust rates upward only after public notice and meetings. If rates stay at or below constant yield, no tax increase occurs. a rate above yields higher taxes due to reassessments.

Farm easement appraisal symposium set for Sheraton Frederick
The Maryland Agricultural Preservation Program funds about 5 million yearly for development rights purchases. A six hour continuing education seminar on farm easement appraisals will be held Monday March 26 at the Sheraton Inn Frederick, moderated by Boyd Smith. Registration is 30 dollars, with lunch included, profits funding scholarships at the University of Maryland College of Agriculture.
