Colby Fails to Get Divorce in Paris
Paris Reb 29. Former American secretary of state Bainbridge Colby failed to obtain a divorce in France as Versailles court ruled it lacked jurisdiction since he did not abandon U.S. domicile and had lived in France only eleven months. Millerand, Colby’s lawyer, noted capricious wife as cause. Colby arrived in Paris last spring seeking separation from Natalie Sedgewick of Stockbridge Mass. The ruling signals France tightening foreign divorce cases.
